US State Department guidelines provided that visitors may use the B-1 visa for brief stays, usually less than six months, to participate in business, scientific, educational, or professional conventions, conferences, or seminars or to undertake independent research. Please check the U. S. Embassy website for visa guidelines and travel updates.
Please consult the US embassy or consulate in your country to determine the appropriate visa category and necessary documentation and visa requirements. It is recommended that you list “professional development” rather than “school” or “study” as your reason for coming to the United States, unless you have won our US scholarship and coming to the United States for "study".
